Patna, August 14 (ABN) A tribute was paid today at the Convention Hall on the occasion of Partition Disaster Memorial Day. In the program, Chief Minister Mr. Samrat Choudhary paid homage to those who lost their lives during the partition of India and expressed condolences to the victims and families affected by the partition tragedy. A two-minute silence was observed during the program. A documentary film based on the partition of India was also shown.
On this occasion, in his address, the Chief Minister said that the partition of India was the greatest tragedy of humanity. During the partition, millions of people had to leave their homes and face irreparable suffering and torture. This day is an opportunity to remember the sacrifices and struggles of all those who sacrificed their lives in difficult times and faced adverse circumstances. The scene 79 years ago, when the country was being divided and people were being separated, must have been very painful.
The Chief Minister thanked Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi for deciding to observe this day as Partition Disaster Memorial Day from 2021. While remembering the horrors of the partition, it is not just a matter of remembering the past, but also to introduce the coming generations to the truth of history. There is a need to introduce the youth and the new generation to the struggles, sacrifices, and events of their ancestors so that they can learn from history and play their role in strengthening the unity, integrity, and social harmony of the nation.
He said that during the partition, a large number of people left their homes, properties, and assets to start a new life in new places. In difficult circumstances, different sections of society helped each other and supported the victims and displaced persons. This spirit of human compassion and cooperation is an important part of our social heritage. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel united 567 states. The Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, started the Satyagraha from Champaran and freed the country. Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee vowed for a united India. Dr. Rajendra Prasad, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan strengthened democracy. Our civilization and culture are glorious. To fulfill the resolve of a developed India, everyone will have to work together.
The Chief Minister said that history teaches us that the stronger the brotherhood, harmony, and unity in society, the stronger the nation will be. When the nation is strong, we will all survive. The sense of nationhood should come first. We should learn from the pain of the past and continuously strengthen social unity and mutual trust to avoid such situations. He said that India's diversity, cultural heritage, and social harmony are our greatest strength. We should remember the partition tragedy and give top priority to the unity and integrity of the nation.
The Chief Minister said that the real tribute to those who lost their lives in the partition horrors and to those families would be to strengthen the country and society by uniting. Today, we pay tribute to all those brave sons who gave us freedom. We also pay homage to our ancestors who lost their lives in the partition horrors.
MLA Mr. Sanjiv Chaurasia and Art and Culture Department Secretary Mr. Pranav Kumar also addressed the program. On this occasion, MLA Mr. Ratanesh Kashyaha, Legislative Council member Mr. Anil Sharma, Legislative Council member Mr. Arvind Sharma, Chief Minister's Principal Secretary Mr. Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Mr. Pritya Amrit, DGP Mr. Vineet Kumar, Planning and Development Department's Additional Chief Secretary Dr. N. After the program, a candle march was organized from the Convention building to the Peepal tree garden located in the Assembly premises on the occasion of Partition Vibhishika Memorial Day, in which Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary participated.
