Patna, 21 April (ABN) Senior leader of Janata Dal United (JDU) and former minister Sharavan Kumar has been elected as the leader of the party's legislative party. JDU's national president and former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has appointed Sharavan Kumar as the leader of the party's legislative party. Sharavan Kumar has been a continuous member of the assembly from Nalanda for the past 31 years and is considered one of Nitish Kumar's closest leaders. He was first elected as an MLA in 1995. In the JDU legislative party meeting, the members of the assembly had given former Chief Minister and party's national president Nitish Kumar the authority to elect the leader of the party's legislative party, and accordingly, Sharavan Kumar's election took place. A few days ago, it was also announced that Sharavan Kumar would be given Y-plus security. The JDU informed the Bihar Assembly Speaker about this today, after which he formally approved Sharavan Kumar as the leader of the JDU legislative party. After former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar went to the Rajya Sabha, the post of Chief Minister went to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In the new government, JDU got two deputy chief minister posts, which were occupied by Vijay Chaudhary and Bijendra Prasad Yadav. On Sharavan Kumar's election, JDU MLA Manjit Singh said that he is a very senior leader of the party and his political training has been with Nitish Kumar. He expressed hope that Sharavan Kumar would take forward Nitish Kumar's policies and thinking as the leader of the party's legislative party.
