Sri Lanka's women's team defeated Bangladesh by 21 runs in the second T20 match on Thursday, thanks to brilliant batting by Harshita Samrawickrama (49) and captain Chamari Atapattu (42), and an outstanding performance by Amasha Dulani (two wickets and three run-outs). With this, Sri Lanka has taken an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Chasing a target of 155 runs, Bangladesh's opening pair of Dilara Akter and Javeria Ferdous put on 46 runs for the first wicket. In the seventh over, Dulani dismissed Dilara Akter (23) to give Sri Lanka their first breakthrough. In the 10th over, Javeria Ferdous (29) was also run out with Dulani's assistance. Later, in the 13th over, captain Nigar Sultana (seven) and Shobhana Mostary (zero) were also run out by Dulani, putting Bangladesh on the back foot. In the 18th over, Shorna Akter (12) also fell victim to Dulani. Bangladesh's team managed to score only 133 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs and lost the match by 21 runs. Sharmin Akter scored an unbeaten 44 runs.
Earlier, Bangladesh had won the toss and decided to bowl first. Sri Lanka's start was not good, and they lost the wicket of Hasini Perera (nine) at a score of 22 runs. Then, Amasha Dulani, who came in to bat, tried to steady the innings with captain Chamari Atapattu. The two batsmen put on 44 runs for the second wicket. In the 11th over, Ritu Moni dismissed Amasha Dulani to break the partnership. Dulani scored 27 runs off 25 balls with the help of four fours.
In the 14th over, Sultana Khatun dismissed Chamari Atapattu. Atapattu scored 42 runs off 37 balls with the help of six fours. On the last ball of the innings, Harshita Samrawickrama was out, scoring 49 runs off 29 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes. She was dismissed by Nahida Akter. Sri Lanka's team scored 154 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Nilakshi Silva remained not out on 22 runs. For Bangladesh, Farzana Hoque, Nahida Akter, Sultana Khatun, and Ritu Moni took one wicket each.
