Patna, 20 April (ABN) Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit on Monday reviewed the progress of the remaining works of the North Koel Reservoir Scheme. The meeting was held to discuss the current status and future course of action of the important project with a total cost of Rs 1367.61 crore. During the review, it was informed that 55.04 percent of the total work on the Right Main Canal under the project has been completed so far. A physical progress of 4.11 percent has been recorded in the last 13 days. The overall physical progress of the project is currently 29.97 percent.
The meeting also discussed the status of manpower and machinery. Currently, 571 personnel and various machinery such as excavators, dumpers, and lining pavers are deployed at the project site. The process of land acquisition in Aurangabad and Gaya districts is in the final stages. In Aurangabad, most of the total 41.251 hectares of land has been acquired, and a deadline of 30 April 2026 has been set for the remaining land. Similarly, in Gaya, the goal is to complete the land acquisition work soon.
Mr. Amrit, after reviewing the progress, taking note of the 4.11 percent progress in the last 13 days, directed the authorities to speed up the work pace to achieve the maximum target before the monsoon. He directed to increase the number of manpower and machinery as needed so that the work does not stop at any level. He directed the district administration to resolve the pending land acquisition cases by the scheduled date (30 April 2026).
He emphasized not to compromise on the quality of construction work and to regularly inspect the site through headquarters-level officers. He directed to complete the pending tenders and technical scrutiny related to the distribution system, so that the work of supplying water to the command area is not affected.
Review of Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur Ganga Mahasetu project Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit on Monday reviewed the progress of the remaining works of the state's important infrastructure project 'Bakhtiyarpur (NH-31) to Tajpur (NH-28) Ganga River Greenfield Mahasetu'. During the review of the project with a remaining cost of Rs 1822.23 crore, Chief Secretary Mr. Amrit emphasized on speeding up the current work pace according to the target.
Chief Secretary Mr. Amrit directed to increase the number of CFT castings so that the work of 12 spans from P-33 to A2 can be completed on time. He clarified that the segment casting rate should be maintained continuously, excluding the monsoon period, so that there is no delay at any level.
Chief Secretary directed the officials to monitor the agency's proposals and objectives on a weekly basis. Any kind of technical hurdle should be resolved immediately. He strictly said that this project is an important bridge connecting North and South Bihar, so there will be no compromise on its construction quality and the final completion date of May 2027.
Review of Sultan Ganj-Aguani Ghat bridge construction work Pratyay Amrit on Monday reviewed the construction work of the '2x2 lane bridge over the Ganga river between Sultan Ganj (Bhagalpur) and Aguani Ghat (Khagaria)' and its approach road, a major project of the state.
During the review, Mr. Amrit expressed satisfaction with the current work pace and issued strict instructions to complete it within the stipulated period. It was informed in the meeting that there has been a recent increase in the construction of the approach road under the project. However, to complete the work by the scheduled date of May 2026, there is a need to further increase the existing resources.
Regarding the Parsa Rai Railway Over Bridge (ROB), it was informed that the design and drawing approval from CSIR was received on 10 April 2026. Mr. Amrit directed the officials and the contractor to immediately increase the number of resources (resources and labor) deployed for the construction of the approach road, as the May 2026 deadline is very important.
He expressed strong displeasure over the delay in submitting the safety audit report by the contractor and ordered it to be submitted immediately. Mr. Amrit directed to maintain continuous contact with the railway and local PIU regarding the pending matters related to Parsa Rai Interchange and Railway Over Bridge, so that the work is not stopped due to administrative hurdles.
He clarified that while increasing the construction speed, there will be no compromise on the structural safety and quality of the bridge. Senior officials of Bihar State Bridge Construction Corporation Limited and engineers and contractors associated with the project were present in this important review meeting.
Review of construction work of Mandai Weir and canal system Patna, 20 April (UNI) Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit on Monday reviewed the progress of the construction work of the Mandai Weir and the canal system and related structures under the Department of Water Resources.
While reviewing the current status of the important project with a cost of Rs 232.83 crore, Chief Secretary directed the authorities to provide important instructions regarding the work pace and resource management. During the review, it was found that at several locations, the number of required manpower and machinery (such as excavators, tippers, and labor) is less than the prescribed standard.
Chief Secretary directed that the availability of resources at the site should be ensured immediately so that the work pace is not affected. He emphasized that the important earthwork and lining work related to the canal system and structures should be completed on a priority basis before the monsoon starts.
In areas where there is a problem of soil availability, arrangements for alternative arrangements and ease of transportation should be ensured. Chief Secretary directed the senior officials of the department to regularly inspect the site and share the weekly progress report. He clarified that the completion of this project will provide irrigation facilities in a large area, so any kind of delay is not acceptable. Whatever tenders and technical approvals are pending should be resolved immediately.
