India's prominent real estate developer Omaxe has decided to name a central stand at its project 'The Omaxe Stadium' in Dwarka after Indian women's cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur. The announcement of this significant decision was made at the project site, where, apart from Harmanpreet Kaur, Omaxe Limited's Managing Director Mohit Goel and Business Head Onit Soni were also present.
Under a first-of-its-kind initiative in Indian cricket, the Harmanpreet Kaur Stand will feature a dedicated 'Pink Stand', a beautifully designed area specifically for women and families. Omaxe aims to make the stadium more inclusive and encourage more women to enjoy live sports. This concept has been developed in consultation with Harmanpreet Kaur, who also provided suggestions to improve athlete-friendly facilities within the stadium.
The 'Harmanpreet Kaur Stand', also known as the 'Pink Stand', will be located in the North (Pavilion) Lower Bowl and will have over 1,500 seats. These are among the best seats in the stadium, offering a spectacular view of the field from close proximity and height.
On the occasion, Harmanpreet Kaur said, "Having a stand named after me at The Omaxe Stadium is truly special. Cricket has given me a lot over the years, and this honor makes my journey even more meaningful. I am grateful to Omaxe for this recognition." She further added, "I am also delighted to have been involved in the stadium's planning to make it more inclusive for women. The recognition of women's cricket in this way is heartening, and I hope this stadium will inspire many young players to take up sports."
This stand is part of the 30,000-seater stadium, which is the centerpiece of 'The Omaxe Stadium'. It is an integrated sports and lifestyle destination spread over more than 50 acres in Sector 19B, Dwarka, with an investment of approximately Rs 2,500 crore.
On the occasion, Omaxe Limited's Managing Director Mr. Mohit Goel said, "Harmanpreet's journey is an exemplary example of discipline, strength, and leadership. Dedication of a stand in her name at The Omaxe Stadium is our way of paying tribute to her journey and acknowledging the growth of women's sports in India. We had made her our brand ambassador even before she won the World Cup, as we believed in the values she represents."
He further elaborated, "On her advice, we are introducing a 'Pink Stand' with over 1,500 seats for women, to make the stadium more inclusive for all. We have also taken her suggestions for facilities for women athletes, which are still rare in Indian stadiums, such as separate and dedicated facilities for women players. To bring this vision to life, we have partnered with Bentel and other global consultants to ensure the design of the stadium, hotel, and commercial space is of international standards." Mohit Goel, while mentioning future goals, said, "In fact, this stadium is being designed keeping in mind India's long-term aspirations, such as hosting international events like Olympics, FIFA tournaments, Paralympics, and Commonwealth Games."
This ambitious project is India's first '5-in-1' destination, aiming to bring together sports, retail, hospitality, food, and social space under one master plan. The stadium will be developed in association with the Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
