The US can attack Iran by the end of this week: US media claims

Awaz E Bihar•19 February 2026 at 06:11 pm•0 views•2 min read

US media has claimed that the US military is ready to attack Iran by the end of this week, however, President Trump has not made a final decision on the matter yet. Tensions between the US and Iran have escalated once again, where the Donald Trump administration has significantly increased its military presence in the Middle East.

US media CBS has claimed that high-ranking national security officials have informed President Donald Trump that they are ready to attack Iran by the end of the week, however, President Trump has not made a final decision on the matter yet.

US officials stated that continuous consultations are underway at the White House, where the potential risks of an attack, Iran's response, and political and military consequences are being considered.

The Pentagon spokesperson refused to comment on the matter, while White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said that there are several justifications for an attack on Iran, but the President's priority has always been diplomacy.

She further stated that it would be better for Iran to negotiate and cooperate with President Trump and his administration, in order to reduce tensions.

According to US officials, a large military force, including warplanes, refueling tankers, and two aircraft carrier groups, has been deployed in the region, after which the US has the option of immediate military action against Iran.

Sources say that the purpose of this military preparation could be to target Iran's nuclear program, ballistic missile systems, and launch sites, however, no final decision has been made yet.

On the other hand, diplomatic efforts are also underway, with some progress made in recent talks in Geneva, but significant differences between the two countries still persist. The US is constantly demanding that Iran completely shut down its uranium enrichment, while Iran's stance is that it will not negotiate under the shadow of threats.

Meanwhile, Israel is also on high alert in the face of a potential war scenario, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is in favor of tough action against Iran. Experts believe that if an attack occurs again, a large-scale war could erupt in the region, and there is a fear of intense missile attacks by Iran on the US and Israel.

It is worth noting that in 2025, the US and Israel also launched attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities, after which the situation became even more tense.
