Three-day 'Gandhi Film Festival' begins at Bapu Tower

Patna, Sep 9 (ABN) The three-day 'Gandhi Film Festival' was inaugurated at Bapu Tower on Wednesday. The program was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Construction Department Secretary Pranav Kumar and other guests traditionally by lighting the lamp. After that Bapu Tower welcomed the guests on the stage by presenting them with bouquets, souvenirs, shawls and books. On this occasion, a special lecture on 'Gandhi and film' was also organized in the first meeting. While delivering the welcome address and introduction to the theme, Vinay Kumar, director of Bapu Tower, highlighted the importance of conveying the aims of Bapu Tower and the ideals of Gandhi to the new generation through films. He said that Gandhiji's influence has been on films from the beginning. In modern times, films are being made based on his ideas. After that, Regional Director of ICCR Patna Ms. Swadha Rizvi and Sunni Society President R. N. Das presented his views as the chief guest. The keynote speaker of the program and renowned film critic Vinod Anupam delivered his detailed address on the topic 'Gandhi and Film'. He said that Gandhiji's life itself is like a cinematic canvas, which has inspired filmmakers from all over the world. Gandhi Museum Secretary Razi Ahmed, who is presiding over the ceremony, highlighted the importance of Gandhian values in his presidential address. On the first day of the Gandhi Film Festival, the famous Richard Atenborough's Oscar-winning film Gandhi (1982) was screened at 11 am. 'Gandhi - Prophet of the 20th Century' (1940) was screened there at 3 pm. Two films will be screened on September 10, the second day of the film festival. The morning session will feature 'Mahatma Gandhi Talks (1931). The afternoon session will feature 'A Boundless Idea' (1970), based on Gandhi's philosophy. Three films have been screened on September 11, the third and final day of the festival. It will be screened at 11 am with 'Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Mara (2005), which is based on the relevance of Gandhi's ideas in the modern context. This will be followed by films with historical footage like 'Noakhali Extracts (1946) and 'South India Tour of Mahatma Gandhi (1946). The program was well organized by Arun Kumar Pathak, Secretary of Bapu Tower, while the motion of thanks was done by Lalit Kumar Singh, Deputy Director of Bapu Tower. A large number of school children, spectators and dignitaries were present on the occasion.
