Araria, 9 April (ABN). In the Forbesganj police station area of Araria district, two people were killed in a dispute over setting up a cart near Gate No. 2 of the Agricultural Produce Market Samiti.
According to police, cart driver Rahul Chauhan, a resident of Chauhan Tola Ward No. 4 in the Forbesganj police station area, killed the driver by slitting his throat after a dispute. The driver, Nabi Hasan, son of Mohammad Moin, was a resident of Amuna Ward No. 21 in the Jog Municipal Council area.
The cart vendor would set up his cart daily to sell wheat and pineapple. After committing the crime, he hid in the bushes near the warehouse. Police arrived at the scene and the crowd pulled him out of the bushes. As police were taking the accused to a safe location, an agitated crowd snatched him from police custody and started beating him, resulting in his death.
Subsequently, Forbesganj SDM Abhay Kumar Tiwari, SDPO Mukes Kumar Sah, and Forbesganj police station in-charge Manoj Kumar, along with a large number of police officers and personnel, reached the scene and started investigating the matter. Police have taken custody of both bodies.
After the incident, agitated people have started protesting against the police administration and illegal auto stands. They blocked roads and set fire at several locations, including the Agricultural Produce Market Samiti gate and Subhash Chowk, and demonstrated. People have accused the police administration of arriving late despite being informed about the incident.
SDM Abhay Kumar Tiwari, SDPO Mukes Kumar Sah, SHO Manoj Kumar, and police from several stations have reached the scene and are trying to placate the agitated crowd.
Regarding this case, Forbesganj SDPO Mukes Kumar Sah said that the incident occurred due to a dispute over setting up a cart. First, the pickup driver's throat was slit and his head was severed from his body, and then the accused cart vendor was beaten to death. He said that the matter is being investigated and the FSL team will be consulted. Additionally, action will be taken against those who attacked the accused after identifying them.
