Lucknow, Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav has launched a scathing attack on the state government over the Karanda Kataria case in Ghazipur, saying that changing statements does not change the reality. He alleged that Uttar Pradesh has never seen a weaker Chief Minister who changes the statements of poor and helpless victims by pressuring them.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Akhilesh Yadav said that several serious questions remain unanswered in this case. He asked why there was a delay in registering the FIR, why the statements were changed, why the affected family is being harassed, who stopped action against influential elements who pelted stones at the police, and why questions are being raised about the post-mortem report.
He said that everyone knows the reality. Whatever the post-mortem report may say, every household in the village knows the ground reality. People know what actually happened and what is being claimed. This has spread the word about the alleged lies of the BJP in every section of the village, and there is intense anger and resentment in the PDA society.
Akhilesh Yadav compared the murder case of Ghazipur's daughter to the Hathras incident, saying that both incidents have one thing in common - the affected families belonged to the PDA society, while the perpetrators of the atrocities belonged to the influential class. He said that the affected family cannot get justice through mere token actions.
He said that the root cause of this injustice is the discrimination present in society. That's why the Samajwadi Party talks not only of establishing a rule of justice but also of establishing a rule of social justice, which should be the biggest goal. He further said that the PDA's mission to establish social justice is another real freedom movement after independence, which tries to change people's attitudes. Equality is a feeling that arises from sincerity, not hatred.
He said that the day the difference between the exploiter and the exploited ends, and people accept equality from the heart, that day will bring real freedom. The Samajwadi Party is fighting for this purpose and is determined to win this battle, no matter how many years or centuries it takes.
