Patna, September 28: (ABN) Amidst the severe flood situation in Bihar, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Monday conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Vaishali, Saran, East Champaran and Gopalganj. He examined the rising water level of Gandak river along with inspecting Dumaria Ghat bridge and Pacharia area of Gopalganj and got the latest situation details from the officers. At Dumaria Ghat, the officers told the Chief Minister that the water level of Gandak river has reached about one and a half meters above the danger mark. The water level is expected to rise by another 50 cm during the night. Looking at the situation, the Chief Minister directed the officers to continue the relief and rescue work with full diligence. The Chief Minister while ordering continuous monitoring of the sensitive and flood-affected areas said that the administration should work among the affected people with full sensitivity and all the necessary assistance should be provided to the needy immediately. He said that negligence will not be tolerated at any level in relief and rescue operations. He directed the officers of the Water Resources Department to continuously monitor the embankments and ensure necessary precautionary measures. The chief minister emphasized on increasing patrolling especially at night and said that better coordination should be maintained between the district administration, SDRF and NDRF so that immediate action can be taken in case of any emergency. Samrat Chaudhary also directed to provide continuous food and other necessary facilities to the victims through flood relief camps and community kitchens established in the affected areas. He made it clear that there should be no negligence in the work of providing relief to the victims. The Chief Minister reviewed the aerial situation of Vaishali district, Hejalpur of Saran district, East Champaran and Dumaria Ghat and Pacharia areas of Gopalganj and also got information about the ongoing relief and rescue work on the ground level. During the inspection, Deputy Chief Minister and Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Member of Parliament Radha Mohan Singh, Member of Assembly Krishan Nandan Paswan, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Priti Amrit, Secretary of Water Resources Department Dr. Chandrasekhar Singh, East Champaran District Magistrate Saurabh Suman Yadav, Gopalganj District Magistrate Sameer Saurabh, East Champaran SP Soran Prabhat and Gopalganj were present. SP Vinay Tiwari and other senior officers were present.
