Patna: (ABN) The CPI (ML) on Sunday targeted the central government over issues of corruption in education, paper leaks, fee hikes, alleged attacks on university autonomy, and action against student movements. Party General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said that every attempt to suppress the ongoing student movement across the country on the issue of education will fail and the movement is continuously expanding.
At a press conference held at the IMA Hall, Dipankar Bhattacharya said that the issue of education is no longer limited to students, but has become a common problem for the new generation and various sections of society. He claimed that from Bihar to Delhi, students, youth, workers, and the working class are standing with this struggle. He also commented on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent video statement, alleging that conservative and patriarchal thinking is being promoted under the guise of asking students to apologize. He said that even a 15-year-old student was systematically targeted. According to him, standing with the new generation is a question of protecting democracy and the education system.
Referring to the lathi charge on students in Delhi, Dipankar Bhattacharya held Union Home Minister Amit Shah responsible. He said that after the Education Minister, the Home Minister's accountability should also be fixed. Along with this, he alleged that despite the announcement of withdrawing cases, all cases related to the movement are not being withdrawn, which is a violation of democratic rights. CPI (ML) MLA Sandeep Saurav, present at the press conference, said that there is deep anger among students and youth across the country against the central government's policies. He alleged that the student movement, especially the girls, is being targeted to weaken it. Along with this, he alleged that the autonomy of universities in Bihar is being ended and poor students are being kept out of higher education through fee hikes.
The Bihar state president of 'AISA', Dhananjay, secretary Dipankar Mishra, and vice-president Sabah Aferin said that the organization will continue the movement to demand widespread reforms in the education and examination system in Bihar. They reiterated the demand to remove the 7.5 CGPA condition in graduation, withdraw the increase in PhD fees, and implement non-NET fellowship. Along with this, they alleged that during a peaceful protest at Gandhi Maidan, the police brutalized several students and youth, and many people were detained without information. They said that the politics of oppression will be answered through a democratic movement.
