'Ganga to Global' to give Bihar students a global flight

Patna, August 12, 2026: Chief Minister Mr. Samrat Choudhary has said that there is no dearth of talent among the youth of Bihar, what is needed is to provide them with quality education, modern skills, and global opportunities. Under the 'Ganga to Global' concept, students of the Lalit Narayan Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change (LNMI) will be exposed to the working methods, modern knowledge, and experiences of prominent institutions in the country and abroad. Every semester, about 100 students will be sent on a one-month foreign exposure visit.
The Chief Minister said this while inaugurating the 'Aagaz-2026' induction and orientation program for students at LNMI today. He lit the lamp to inaugurate the program and honored six gold medalist students who passed out in 2026. He also congratulated the students who took admission in the new academic session and expressed good wishes for their bright future.
The Chief Minister said that the Lalit Narayan Mishra Institute is an important part of Bihar's educational heritage. Currently, about 1600 students are studying in the institution, and efforts will be made to increase this number to 3000. Admission to the institution is based on the performance of students in competitive exams like CAT and MAT.
He said that under 'Ganga to Global', students from Bihar will be given the opportunity to learn and understand the modern educational and research methods of prominent educational institutions in the country and abroad. Every semester, about 100 students will be given a one-month foreign exposure, so that they can benefit from the experiences of global institutions.
10 acres of land for LNMI
The Chief Minister announced that in the development process of the new township being built in Patna, 10 acres of land will be provided to LNMI for the establishment of a satellite campus. In addition, an AI Center of Excellence, Center for Urban Policy and Governance, and Quantum Computer Center will be set up in the institution.
He said that the purpose of establishing these centers is to provide students with better opportunities for study, research, and practical experience in the fields of modern technology, policy-making, urban development, administration, and governance.
Several initiatives in the education sector
The Chief Minister said that the state government is taking continuous important steps in the education sector. Degree colleges have been established in all blocks. Teaching activities have started in 211 degree colleges started on July 15, with the appointment of teachers from August 10. 551 model schools have also been started in the state.
He said that from August 15, students will be able to take online education even after 11 pm, ask questions to teachers, and prepare better for exams.
Role of youth in giving global recognition to Magadh's historical heritage
Mr. Samrat Choudhary said that students and youth will play an important role in giving global recognition to Bihar's glorious Magadh history and great cultural heritage again. Wherever the youth of Bihar live in the world, they should remain connected to their soil and homeland and play their role in the development and prosperity of the state.
He said that the world is changing rapidly and the role of technology is increasing in every field. The use of artificial intelligence is also increasing rapidly, so it is essential to prepare students according to future technology and changing needs.
Emphasis on water management and infrastructure
The Chief Minister said that better work has been done in the field of flood management in Bihar. The project to link rivers was started under the leadership of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Attention is being paid to improving the Kosi, Narayani, and Ganga river basins in the state, so that effective water management can be ensured.
He said that as a result of better water management, about 44 lakh hectares of land are being irrigated in Bihar at present. A plan is being made to build a 200 km long marine drive by 2030 in PPP mode, with an investment of about one lakh crore rupees.
The Chief Minister said that industrial development is necessary for the prosperity of Bihar. If the youth want to move forward in life, they will have to work hard continuously to fulfill their dreams along with getting quality education.
Participation of officials and students
In the program, Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning and Development Department and Director of Lalit Narayan Mishra Institute for Economic Development and Social Change, Dr. N Vijayalakshmi, welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him with a shawl and a memento. A short film based on the institution was also shown on the occasion.
Urban Development and IT Minister Mr. Nitesh Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary of the Planning and Development Department and Director of the institution Dr. N Vijayalakshmi, and Vice-Chancellor of Aryabhatta Knowledge University Professor Shard Kumar Yadav also addressed the program. Three students of the 2026 batch also expressed their views.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister's Secretary Mr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Higher Education Department Mr. Rajiv Roshan, and other senior officials, teachers, and students of LNMI were present.
