Maulana Salim Chaturvedi's arrest is a flagrant violation of the law: Akhtar-ul-Iman

Awaz E Bihar•2 April 2026 at 06:31 pm•10 views•2 min read

Patna (ABN) The manner and manner in which Maulana Salim Chaturvedi, a well-known orator, religious and political leader has been arrested, has now started to react from people of every school of thought. Cases have been registered against Maulana Salim Chaturvedi in several districts of Uttar Pradesh after a video clip of him allegedly abusing UP Chief Minister Aditya Yogi in a rally was released about two years ago. The STF arrested him from Dalmalpur Chowk in Amorthana of Purnia district. After his arrest, he was taken to Gorakhpur and later produced before a court in Bahraich. The court sent him to judicial custody for 14 days. He is currently in jail. The STF arrested him in civilian dress in a film style. Maulana Salim Chaturvedi's arrest has sparked outrage in other parts of the country, including Semanchal. In this regard, MIM state president and MLA Akhtar Ul Ayman said in a press conference on Thursday that the arrest of a well-known religious scholar and religious leader in this manner is a flagrant violation of the law. The STF must report it to the local SP and local police administration and produce them before the local court. If Maulana Salim Chaturvedi has used such words, there is a court for him and the police has no right to punish him in this matter. Akhtarul Ayman said that before Bahraich appeared in the court, it was clear from his condition that he was not walking properly. This is proof that the police beat and tortured them. We do not support any kind of religious hatred, but we strongly condemn the way Maulana Salim Chaturvedi was physically tortured.
We demand the Bihar government to intervene in this matter as soon as possible, because it is also a matter of respect for the state government. In this regard, we have submitted a petition to the State Human Rights Commission besides Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary.
