Over 1 million girls benefited from the Kanya Sumangala Yojana in three years

Patna, 28 March (ABN) Under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana, more than 10 lakh girls have been benefited in three years. From the financial year 2022-23 to 2024-25, 12 lakh 53 thousand 831 girls were registered, out of which 10 lakh 35 thousand 770 beneficiaries have been disbursed funds through DBT. In the financial year 2025-26, the registration process was delayed due to technical reasons from the last week of January. So far, 1 lakh 10 thousand 367 applications have been received. Authorities say the registration process is moving forward rapidly and soon more beneficiaries will get help.
According to the information received from the Department of Social Welfare, in the financial year 2022-23, 3 lakh 52 thousand 413 beneficiaries and in 2024-25, 3 lakh 36 thousand 699 beneficiaries have been given the benefit of the scheme. Under the scheme, a newborn girl is provided Rs 2,000 in the first year of her birth and Rs 1,000 after registration of birth and Aadhaar registration, directly to the parents, beneficiaries' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). The Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana (MKUY) has achieved continuous successes in promoting the birth, education, and social protection of girls in the state. Launched on 3 August 2018, the main objective of the scheme is to prevent female foeticide, encourage birth registration, and eliminate child marriage.
A strong foundation for the future of daughters: The Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana is being implemented in Bihar. It provides financial assistance to girls from their birth to their education and self-reliance. It not only gives a social message that daughters are not a burden but a strength for the family and society. The Bihar government's initiative is proving to be an important step towards improving the sex ratio in the state, increasing the education rate of girls, and eliminating social evils like child marriage.
