Radhakrishnan administered oath to 19 members of Rajya Sabha

Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan administered the oath of membership to 19 newly elected and re-elected members on Monday. The members who took the oath include six from Tamil Nadu, five from Maharashtra, five from West Bengal, and three from Odisha.
They include four each from the Trinamool Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party, two from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), one each from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), the Republican Party of India, the Shiv Sena, the NCP (Sharad Pawar), the Biju Janata Dal, the Congress, the AIADMK, the PMK, the Marumalarchi DMK, and one independent member. The members who took the oath include three women and 16 men, with five members re-elected to the House. Mr. Sharad Chandrapawar took the oath from a wheelchair in the House.
From Maharashtra, BJP's Maya Chitamani Eknath Awate and Ramrao Sakharam Wadke took the oath in Marathi, while NCP (Sharad Pawar)'s Mr. Pawar and RPI's Ramdas Athawale took the oath in Hindi, and Shiv Sena's Dr. Jyoti Nath Nagnath Waghmare took the oath in Marathi.
From Odisha, BJP's Mamata Samal, BJD's Sontosh Mohapatra, and independent candidate Dilip Kumar Ray took the oath in Odia. From Tamil Nadu, DMK's Kanimozhi, Truchi Siva, Congress's Kristudass, Marumalarchi DMK's LK Sudhish, AIADMK's M Thambidurai, and PMK's Ambumani Ramadoss took the oath in Tamil.
Mr. Pawar, Mr. Athawale, Mr. Ramdas, Mr. Siva, and Mr. Thambidurai have been re-elected to the Upper House. From West Bengal, Trinamool Congress's Babul Supriyo Baral, Rajiv Kumar, and Rukmani Malik took the oath in Bengali, while Dr. Mausam Noor took the oath in English, and BJP's Roopa Ganguly took the oath in Bengali.
On the occasion, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, Deputy Chairman Harivansh, and some members of Parliament and officials were also present. All these members have been elected to the Rajya Sabha after winning the recently held biennial elections.
