Patna: (ABN) A cabinet meeting was held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. After the meeting, Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat Department, Arvind Kumar Choudhary, informed journalists that 20 proposals were approved in today's meeting. He said the government has made major decisions in the fields of technology, education, health, and transport. He also said these decisions will boost the modern system in the state, along with transparency and good governance. The government's priorities include development and digital systems. E-voting will now be possible in urban civic elections in Bihar. 400 air-conditioned electric buses will be run across the state to tackle air pollution. The proposal was approved in the cabinet meeting today.
In the cabinet meeting, approval was given for the formation of the 'Bihar AI Mission' to make progress in the field of artificial intelligence. Under this, public representatives, officials, and employees will be trained with the cooperation of national and international institutions. This will help in making data-based decisions in areas such as administration, financial management, agriculture, social welfare, and tourism, and will bring transparency to the system. In the 2026 urban civic elections, e-voting will be arranged to facilitate senior citizens, the disabled, and voters living outside. The project will cost around Rs 31.45 lakh, and a central technical institution has been given the responsibility of its implementation. This will make the polling process easier and more transparent.
In the cabinet meeting, Rs 517.16 crore was approved for the Prime Minister E-Bus Service project to cover the loss of running 400 air-conditioned electric buses in major cities of Bihar. Approval has been given to run 150 buses in Patna and 50 buses each in Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Darbhanga, and Purnia. The project will be implemented for 12 years, which will reduce pollution and provide better transport facilities to people. The state cabinet has approved a Rs 175 crore project for anti-erosion works in Buxar, Saran, and Vaishali. Meanwhile, the under-construction medical college and hospital in Sitamarhi have been renamed 'Maa Sita Medical College and Hospital', which has now been approved by the cabinet.
The government has decided to rename the under-construction Government Medical College in Sitamarhi as 'Maa Sita' Medical College and Hospital. The Special Secretary to the government, Marnayak Das, said that Sitamarhi is a highly sacred and historical place in the Mithila region. Considering its religious and historical background, the government has decided to name the under-construction government medical college here as 'Maa Sita Medical College and Hospital'.
The cabinet has approved the transfer of 1.85 acres of land of BIADA near the airport in the industrial area of Patna (urban) to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for free. According to the Secretary of the Industry Department, this decision has been taken for the construction and expansion of the basic infrastructure of Patna Airport. In the cabinet meeting, several other proposals were also approved to make urban development, industrial development, infrastructure strengthening, and administrative reforms more effective in the state. The aim of these decisions is to promote investment in Bihar and improve public services.
