Madhubani, August 9 (Salem Azaad) Three women were killed when they were hit by a speeding unknown vehicle in the Benipatti police station area of Madhubani district in Bihar on Sunday morning. Police sources said that some women from the Hanuman Chowk Nautoli area of the Arer police station had gone out for a walk on Sunday morning, as they did every day. After the walk, three women were sitting on the side of the road near the brick kiln in front of the Jagdamba petrol pump. Meanwhile, a four-wheeler coming from the Rahika side at high speed crushed the three women sitting about three to four feet away from the road and the driver fled with the vehicle. All three women died on the spot, while three other women present there narrowly escaped. As soon as the news of the incident spread, a crowd of people gathered at the spot. Angry people blocked the road demanding identification of the fleeing vehicle and arrest of the driver, which affected the traffic. Sources said that after receiving information about the incident, Benipatti's Thanedar and Police Inspector Anup Kumar and Arer's Thanedar Anand Shankar Guru reached the spot with police officers and took stock of the situation. The police administration is trying to persuade the people who blocked the road. The deceased women have been identified as 72-year-old Phool Dai Devi, wife of former Arun Jha, 42-year-old Karn Devi, wife of Raju Mahato, and 55-year-old Rita Devi, wife of Pachu Sah. The families of two deceased women have taken the bodies with them for last rites, while Rita Devi's body is currently lying on the road. The police are trying to identify the fleeing vehicle.
