Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said on Saturday that a country's future is determined not by its agriculture, market or industry, but by the crowd of young people gathering in its libraries. Mr. Shah inaugurated the newly constructed high-tech, digital and state-of-the-art Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (JPN) Public Library at Adhyancha Marg here by the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). On the occasion, he said that a country's future is determined not by its agriculture, market or industry, but by the crowd of young people gathering in its libraries. He said that all activities that take the country forward, build the country and give the country greatness are based on knowledge and wisdom. This knowledge can only be provided by a library. He appealed to the young generation to connect with a library once. As soon as the habit of reading is formed, the ability to distinguish between good and bad will automatically arise. The Home Minister shared his experience, saying that in the small town where he was born and spent his childhood, there was a rich library. Due to his association with this library, a big change came in his life. While reading books like 'Aladdin and the Magic Lamp', 'Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves', 'The Travels of Sinbad', his journey of reading unknowingly reached the Vedas and Upanishads. He said that today he saw a sentence written in the hall that "one should think before speaking, because words never come back." He said that before speaking any sentence, one should think and before thinking, one should read what to think, and this sense can only be provided by a library. He said that the library has made a huge contribution to his life. In almost every village of his parliamentary constituency, a library has been opened, which has about 3-4 thousand books. These libraries have been linked to the central library, which has about one lakh books. In addition, four mobile vans have also been run. He said that the children of the villages ask for their favorite book by writing its name in the library and getting it, and every Friday, the children get their favorite book available in the village itself. He said that we have tried to connect every library with schools. The Home Minister said that this library, named after Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan, will become a new center of knowledge and thought for the youth. He appealed to the Delhi government to link all the libraries of Delhi with each other and make a solid plan to connect schools with them. He said that an action plan should be made to connect book lovers with libraries. He said that the library encourages diving into the ocean of knowledge and also motivates to pick up the pearls and jewels lying beneath the sea and bring them up. These pearls and jewels that emerge from the dive of the ocean of knowledge refine the personality, take the country forward, make the country prosperous and self-sufficient, make the country civilized, educated and secure. He said that without reading Adeb Ram Dhari Singh 'Dinkar', the soul, culture, self-respect and struggle of this country cannot be understood, and the library can be the strongest means in this regard.
