''Himanta is the most corrupt Chief Minister of the country''

Awaz E Bihar•2 April 2026 at 05:15 pm•3 views•2 min read

New Delhi, 02 April: In the Lok Sabha, Opposition Leader Rahul Gandhi has leveled serious allegations against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, calling him the "most corrupt Chief Minister in the country" during his election campaign for the Assam Assembly elections.
He called Mr. Sarma the "most corrupt Chief Minister in the country" and also said that an atmosphere of hatred and fear is being created in the state, whereas Assam has been identified with mutual brotherhood and cultural unity. He talked about joining people and moving forward with a message of love, referring to the legacy of great personalities.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and the Assam government have turned the state into an "ATM". The state's lands are being given to big industrialists and political benefits are being reaped in return. He said this is "sheer corruption".
It is worth noting that on Thursday, Rahul Gandhi addressed public meetings in the Sivasagar and Jorhat assembly constituencies of Assam. "Assam is a bouquet of flowers, where people of different religions, castes, and ideologies live. The Congress thinks that the real power should be in the hands of the people of India, and every class should have a share in running the country. On the other hand, the BJP's ideology is that Assam should be run from Delhi. This is the fight that is going on." This statement was made by Lok Sabha Opposition Leader and Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi while addressing a gathering of people at the Sivasagar Sports Complex Ground in Karbi Anglong, Assam, today.
